Pakistan vs England, 2nd Match, ODI Tri-Series 2026
- Date: Tuesday 20 October 2026 (day/night)
- Venue: Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi
- Toss: England won the toss and elected to field
- Result: Pakistan won by 87 runs
- Player of the Match: Arafat Minhas
Arafat Minhas produced the standout all-round performance of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series so far, striking 59 off 58 balls and then taking six wickets for 40 as Pakistan overwhelmed England by 87 runs at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Defending champions of nothing but their own early-season momentum, Pakistan posted 302 for 9 from their 50 overs before bowling England out for 215 in 38.4, a second consecutive win that leaves them clear at the top of the table after their 37-run defeat of Sri Lanka two days earlier.
Pakistan's Innings: 302 For 9
Harry Brook's decision to bowl first initially looked justified. Babar Azam ground out 34 from 52 and Saad Baig — a half-maker of starts in this series — fell for 35 from 54, leaving Pakistan needing a spark in the middle overs.
Hasan Nawaz and Arafat Minhas provided it. Nawaz's 79 from 74 deliveries, including five fours and four sixes, was the innings' backbone, and his 21-year-old partner matched him stroke for stroke, Minhas cracking nine boundaries in his 58-ball 59.
Faheem Ashraf's unbeaten-to-the-end cameo of 39 from just 26 balls then turned 270-odd into 302, and Haris Rauf smacked 10 from five at the death. For England, Sonny Baker took 3 for 65 and Gus Atkinson 2 for 35, while Jamie Overton's 1 for 38 from ten was the most economical spell of the innings.
Minhas Follows Fifty With Six Wickets
The evening belonged to Minhas. Bowling his left-arm spin with control England never solved, the 21-year-old ripped through the chase with figures of 8.4 overs, 40 runs and six wickets — one of the great all-round days in this fixture's recent history.
His 59 had already lifted Pakistan to a winning total; his six-for then removed the heart of England's batting, turning a stiff chase into a procession.
England's Chase: 215 All Out
England began with intent — Tom Banton struck 57 from 53 balls with five fours and two sixes, and Ben Duckett made 45 from 46 — but wickets kept falling at the other end in a withering pattern.
Harry Brook fell for 5, Jordan Cox made a busy 18, and Joe Root's 33 from 35 ended as resistance rather than launchpad. When Minhas swept through the middle order, England slipped from contention to collapse: 215 all out in 38.4 overs, still 87 short.
Haris Rauf's two wickets included the dangerous Banton dismissal at the top, and Naseem Shah chipped in with one, but this was Minhas's night from first ball to last.
Turning Points
- Nawaz and Minhas putting on the innings' decisive middle-overs stand, converting a stuttering platform into a 300-plus total.
- Faheem Ashraf's 26-ball 39 at the death, which stretched England's target well beyond par.
- Minhas removing Root and the middle order in quick succession, ending the chase inside 39 overs.
Player of the Match
Arafat Minhas — 59 from 58 balls and 6 for 40 from 8.4 overs — was the unanimous choice, an award confirmed on the official scorecard and across international match reporting. The double of a half-century and a five-wicket haul in the same ODI is a rare feat, and the 21-year-old delivered it on home soil against England.
Tri-Series Table and What's Next
Pakistan sit on four points from two wins, with a +124 run margin across their victories. England and Sri Lanka both remain pointless and meet at Rawalpindi on Thursday 22 October, when one of them will finally get on the board.
Pakistan, who were previewed here before this match, next travel to Lahore for the final leg of the round-robin, with the tournament final at Gaddafi Stadium on 31 October.
